Hey everyone! In a previous post I wrote about my Henry who has angel wing and how I was pretty unsuccessful in wrapping him. I tried several times and he ended up getting super stressed and panting non stop. I thought it was just at that point in his best interest to stop because it really was not working. All my Pekins are super lovey and will come right up to you but Henry is very stand offish and terrified of everything.

I noticed today when I brought them outside Henry’s wing started bleeding. I didn’t see anything happen but I’m really concerned now. Any advice on what steps I should take? I don’t want to hurt it even more. I’ll include pictures, sorry they’re not the best quality but as I mentioned he’s scared of everything so trying to get a picture is hard.

I want to just mention, I did try my hardest even with help to wrap him and it was unsuccessful several times. I promise I’m not just out right ignoring it! Should I attempt to wrap one more time? His wing does seem like it’s twitching a little bit.

Is a vet an option?
Tomorrow it could be an option. We don’t have any vets open today and I will bring him to an emergency vet if I have to certainly but it’s pretty expensive just to walk in the door so I didn’t know if there was anything I could do tonight until I get him to my regular vet tomorrow. The bleeding seems to have slowed down but I’m just confused on what exactly it is that’s bleeding. Wish I could get a clearer picture

Okay that’s what I figured it probably was. When I looked it up it did show something for a chicken called broken blood feathers and I think that’s exactly what it is!

Sometimes another bird will mess with their wings and cause bleeding or the knock it up against something of catch it on something.

Yeah, I’m thinking he got it caught on something in the 1 min I of course walked in to bring them out more food. The bleeding has stopped and looks like it has clotted. I tried to look to see where the broken blood feather was but I honestly couldn’t really tell. It didn’t help he was squirming a lot too, haha. I’ll definitely give a call to the vet in the morning if things still aren’t looking good. I keep reading online though that broken blood feathers don’t heal on their own? I keep reading mixed opinions on wether or not to pull it out..
