Blind duck, I think!!!

What a beautiful duckling!

Do you plan on keeping him as an indoor pet or possibly moving him outside and getting some more ducklings he could be with? Either choice will take a lot of time on your part to make sure he's living in a safe environment and getting his needs taken care of.

EDIT: Ducks can live anywhere from 7 years (pekins and large, fat duck breeds) to up to and sometimes over 20! He could be a long time companion if nothing structural interferes with his health.

I have never had a blind duck but did have a blind cockerel. I don't know what happened to him as I eventually gave him to a young boy with his mother's permission. When I had him he would go out into his pen and quite often manage to find his way back into the coop. I kept a pan on the floor in the same place for him and water. He would make his way to the pop door and peck around it until he found the opening. Every evening I would go out and make sure he made it back inside the coop.

I think you would have to give something more concentrated if it was going to work.

He was on Nutri drench, Vitamin E gel tablets, vitamin B complex every day until two days ago when he turned 3 weeks old as it seem to be making no difference. I think it is more a deformity of the neck than a vitamin deficiency. If i feel his neck you can feel a small piece of vertebrae sticking out where his neck kinks. Doyou think i should continue with the vitamins? I can't see it doing any harm.

Keep up with the vitamin at least the nutria drench.

Can you post a video of this lil one? I believe it was @learycow who had a duckling with a crooked neck maybe she can offer some advise.

Does he mingle with the rest of the ducklings? eating good? If he is off in a corner not socializing or eating then thinking of putting him down should def be done but if he seems to be adapting well I'd say let him live his life as best he can.

Yes will try and upload a vid, he is currently not with any ducklings as he was the only that hatched. I am however buying some ducklings that are the same age tomorrow and he will be moving outside into a pen. He currently lives in my bedroom. He eats really well and is growing by the day!!

Aww Bless it's heart. happy your getting some ducklings for this little one.
As for the neck it does look like it is a defect. probably from the way it was in the shell.

Like @casportpony says though they can live a very happy life you'll just have to be protective of this one more so than one who doesn't have sight problems or a deformity.

It's so precious. I'd keep up with the vitamins they can keep the immune system boosted.

Thanks for all your help guys!! So his new friends have arrived, two cayuga ducklings!! They are so cute anyway I think he may be deaf as well as when I put the ducklings in they were making a lot of noise but he didn't seem to notice they were there. Maybe he's not interested?? I don't know he's definitely not following them around that's for sure.

Awwwe how cute!

And oh no! Has he ever responded in any way to you speaking to him? Moves his head in your direction, or stops to listen? Have the other ducklings made any move to physically touch him - nudge, bill-nibble, and so on?
