My not-quite year old isa brown chicken seems to have some eyes injuries of some kind. Not sure what happened but the left eye is shut and swollen-ish. I've been getting her to drink some water but not any food. I read somewhere that yogurt can be given to chickens as a sort of "soft food/treat." I need to get some food in her but I'm not sure what I can dip her break into so she can eat. The right eye can open barely and she seems to use it occasionally. The left eye seems to be seeping a little bit of clearish fluid after her pen mate pecked at her when I turned my head away.

I have 2 hens with eye challenges. One was born with it, one eye (partridge/maran mix.). One I believe developed a tumor in her head effecting one eye LO (maybe eventually both). Both have thrived. Nether are the lowest on the totem. The one born with it, is smaller, but heavier than some of the hens. I have not done anything special for either.

Please, how long has the hen been this way? All her life? Or just a few days? This is important.

It appears to be infection. Sinuses perhaps. She needs an antibiotic, Tylan would be good. And you need to clean out the pus from her eyes. If she's been this way a short time, there's a chance to save her vision, while it may be too late if this has been going on for months.

i found her yesterday like this

So, one day that you know of. That only answers part of my question. Please tell us when was the last time you remember her eyes being normal?
