Blister on ducks bill

Definitely not Epsom salt because it will Poop it's pants. Nothing is needed but to drain it..
An epsom salt compress held to the bill will *not* cause diarrhea. :D

Draining it could introduce infection, so as I said before, don't attempt to do this unless a vet or someone qualified tells you to do it.

Hello everyone. Unfortunately my ducks bill is still not better. I used the Epsom salts on it for quite a while but saw no improvement. The lump is now hard. I don’t know if this is related or not but the feathers around her tail and face also always appear dirty. Even if she is in her pond all day she comes out looking like this.

I would take her to a vet or rub some antibacterial cream on it. You also have a male not a female and make sure every day she has water to clean in so she stays clean.

The lady we bought him from said he was a girl but now that I listen to his quack you are right he is a boy. This is my first duck so really new to this. I will have to rehome him now as he is in with a female goose and no other ducks. Do you guys think he could have wet feather and that’s why tail feathers are always dirty.

Hello! I had a duck who got a blister on his bill a little while ago, he was never bothered by it and it eventually went away. I kept an eye on him, but the blister just went down and faded. I don't know about the hardness your duck is experiencing...I would keep doing what you are doing, and just watch it, so long as the duck is acting normal. But that's me.

As for the tail feathers, it could be he is due for a molt? Or its possible that its just stained. He does have white feathers--sometimes my white-feathered ducks will get dirty and look a mess. Especially if you have a dirt yard, or get a lot of mud.

Keep him...it will be fine with a goose. I will tell you how I could tell he was a drake so you know and can help people when they need Q about gender! See his tail feather...well several feathers are curled...that is a drake feather. They will sometimes molt them off and then regrow them.:p:thumbsup

He's had some type of trauma to his bill hopefully like has been mentioned it will just go away on it's own. Put some ACV into his drinking water it does help with healing. My goose somehow punctured his bill and I used ACV in his bucket of water and it healed fine and helped with bacteria. 1 Tab to 1 gal of water. ACV with mother is best.
