Blizzard conditions tonight and tomorrow..........NOOoooooooo!

Wow, I can't believe you're getting that extreme winter weather already! I'm here in Ohio, and them temps have been in the 50s and 60s lately, which is not typical for our area. Unseasonably warm for sure. Last winter, we were just bombarded with snow. It was the worst snow we've had in a long time, and that was my first winter with chickens too.

As long as you're wearing the right clothing, it won't be so bad. Bundle yourself up!

Take care!
Sharon

I'm wishing I was back in Ohio!!! I was there last weekend with my daughter for the Ohio National and it was balmy all except one day. It was the same way the previous year I was there. Today, it is 28 here with a high of 30 predicted. I grew up in Ohio so I'm used to this but still, it's just not fair

Our 7 week old chicks safe and sound in their hoop house. Which seems to be handling the snow very well in Issaquah.

This is my first winter with chickens. I was worried about my ark being unheated. Then I discovered this morning that one of the girls had spent the night outside. She seems to be all right. If she can survive outside, I'm not going to worry about them in the coop any more.

Funny thing is, with all this snow that seems so unusual, I think it was very unusual to not have snow. When I was in elementary school, it would snow 6-8 inches almost every winter and stick around for at least 2-3 weeks. Through the 90's back in washington it is only been 2-3 days or a week every year or every other year. I think the weather patterns are becoming what they were in the late 80's, early 90's again.

I go even further back

.When the kids were growing up in 60s / 70s , we always had snow in Nov and you could count on a couple of big snows thru winter But we also had chinook winds Both the snow and chinooks vanished over the last 2 decades, we'll see

Sharon - I'm sure we'll get our fair share, too, and soon. Can you say "lake effect"?

I'm perfectly fine seeing the snow just in the pictures from WA! Good luck, all!
