I put a tarp on the north side of the run and have 8 or so bales around it. They're doing ok right now, but then we only have 4 inches so far and no high winds.... yet!

I was sealing up things last night trying to keep all unburied and warm. Cheers and warm cocoa to you, iowaroomom, and let's hope the power stays on so you and I can get BYC. There's already 6" on the ground in Winterset.

We've got similar weather coming! I'm worried about my new mare, she doesn't have a run-in shed and I can't get a blanket on her. She'll just have to suffer out there in the snow. She has a big round bale though to munch through so I'll just get all the water filled up, Luna's new chunky winter blanket on her and call it a day.

Our winter warning..

Batten down the hatches! I got things ready last night, mostly... I'm preparing extra treats as we speak, hard boiled eggs and yogurt, deer meat scraps, and a bit of birdseed. They're not going to be happy, but they'll survive

Someone at work gave me 6 little bottles of "Ensure" that their grandparent had refused to help them gain weight. I gave two bottles warmed with oatmeal last night to the chooks and they had no quarrels with the vitamin-enriched-weight-gaining-carmel smelling gunk. I suppose I might give them some more tonight to stave off the blizzard.
If you don't hear from me, you'll know I got buried or snow-blind in between the covered-bridge coop and my garage door. PBJmaker knows the way to my house, come unbury me please...

I wanna be buried!!! All my birds have shelter that is covered and at least three walls. However their water was frozen this morning. Popped out big chunks of ice to refill them.

Heck, I'll trade ya for the week. Wind is blowing, snow is twisting, and I have a 45 mile drive on slick roads.
**************SNOWBALL*************************<poof> got ya right in the back of the head, didn't I, Debi?
