It is very important to keep her vent clean and moist until it heals. Make sure to slather plenty of ointment on it after her bath.

My hen had some food this morning but once we found out about the pro lapse we haven't given her anything. I did put a bowl of water with electrolyte and vitamins in it. Should I just feed her boiled eggs? In another post about 2013 the person said they fed the hen wheat for a week.@canalcolt
Hi.
Prolapses can be fixed, even quite bad ones but it is going to take some time and effort on your part so if you are unable to make that commitment, then it would be kinder to euthanize her now.
The first thing to do it get it cleaned up and see how bad it is. Give her a nice long (15 mins) soak in warm water with a couple of teaspoons of Epsom Salts in it if you have some. Wash her vent as well as you possibly can, towel dry her and clip away the surrounding feathers so that the injury is easier to see and also treat. Apply a good amount of triple antibiotic ointment in and around the vent and blow dry her with a hair drier. Place her in a dark box or cage in a warm place.... the darkness is important to discourage her from producing any more eggs until her vent has healed. A heating pad may help her to relax and pass the egg. She will need soaking and cleaning twice a day and you will need some Preparation H haemorrhoid cream to use once the vent starts to heal. I will link another thread which details what another member did to heal their girl with a very bad prolapse. I'm sure if you reached out to them via that thread or a PM they would be happy to guide you.
Thanks I will try thatI have no idea why they would feed a hen only wheat and I would advise against it because it lacks many important nutrients. I would reduce her food intake but make a wet mash with her regular food and water and add a bit of egg and give it twice a day and keep her in the dark for most of the day and night for these first few days to try to prevent more eggs being produced. Give her a couple of hours morning and night if you can to get a little exercise as that will also help to stimulate healing and perhaps help her to pass it if there is an egg stuck.
We let the chickens out this morning and now we find one hen with stuff hanging out. To me it looks like poop and there is a lot of blood. I was unable to load video since it was too large. Anyone know how I can downscale the video? I'm using an iPhone 5s
I will take a picture when IHi, ref our conversation, just found the thread with the picture I was looking for but it is not very clear when you zoom in.
Can you take a picture when the chicken is upside down? Her vent tends to get exposed better.
I just took the bandage off so need to clean better. But it has gone down either further than yesterdayHi, ref our conversation, just found the thread with the picture I was looking for but it is not very clear when you zoom in.

I just posted a picture of it. It went down yesterday and the size has gone down some more . Not sure if I should try to push it back in yet or not.@canalcolt , how is your hen?
You can try to put it back in, but you need to clean it really well first. Can you go to Walmart and get some Betadine or Hibiclens?I just posted a picture of it. It went down yesterday and the size has gone down some more . Not sure if I should try to push it back in yet or not.
