First, I’m sorry you had to go through thatalso I have a mouse trap that works great (it instantly kills the mice with an electric shock), but I don’t know if there’s one for rats anyway the site is called victor, hope this helps

I have placed locked rat bait boxes with Just One Bite baits in them around the outside of my coop where the chickens can’t get to. We have not seen any more evidence of them in several years now, and since we live on an old farm next to a pond, we have been fortunate. Bromodialone is the active ingredient, and is also sold as Tomcat, but check the label.
