Blood in rooster's semen?

well, i wouldnt let him carry on with that..so you are worried about blood in his semen...what do you do when there isnt? do you keep a change of clothes...ignore it?

could he have possibly slightly injured himself while he was being amorous? (like maybe on a shoelace, a seam, or something like that?) If the amount is decreasing, I would guess a minor injury. Hope he recovers & does fine. BTW, have you thought about putting him in a pen alongside another chicken/s where he can see them and get used to them and learn how to be a "regular" chicken? It may be worth the effort.

Lobzi, sorry if you're feeling like folks aren't addressing your question...it's a VERY unusual one! Sorry 'bout your little fella. I, too, would think it's probably nothing to worry about. However, I would most definitely try harder to find him a girl. If he scares your hen, she'd get over it. New introductions are never worry or stress free...there's ALWAYS a bit of pecking at first...seriously, if you really love the boy, let him lead a "normal" rooster life. He'll be so much happier in the end, and maybe you could even hatch some of his babies! GOOD LUCK!

You know how roosters are, they get in all sorts of trouble. He could have tipped and hurt himself. lol. I know that during the AI process you massage the rooster's vent pretty firmly, and sometimes you rupture capillaries in the process. And that's what leaves the blood in the semen. Nothing to worry about unless there is a lot of blood, which might mean internal injury.

Oh man, I feel a lot better having read this. I must admit I dont know what AI is but I like to hear that I most likely have nothing to worry about. Of course I keep thinking about what it would mean in humans (blood in semen or urine). Doctors would never take it lightly.
