well, i wouldnt let him carry on with that..so you are worried about blood in his semen...what do you do when there isnt? do you keep a change of clothes...ignore it?

First, thanks for seriously addressing my concern. I dont remember rough-handling him, but maybe that is what happened. I will definitely keep an eye out.
could he have possibly slightly injured himself while he was being amorous? (like maybe on a shoelace, a seam, or something like that?) If the amount is decreasing, I would guess a minor injury. Hope he recovers & does fine. BTW, have you thought about putting him in a pen alongside another chicken/s where he can see them and get used to them and learn how to be a "regular" chicken? It may be worth the effort.

He is my buddy, I could never eat him. Unless you were here to see our relationship, you'd never understand. He is not like just some barnyard rooster. He is my pet, like a dog or cat might be yours. Could you eat your pet?
Lobzi, sorry if you're feeling like folks aren't addressing your question...it's a VERY unusual one! Sorry 'bout your little fella. I, too, would think it's probably nothing to worry about. However, I would most definitely try harder to find him a girl. If he scares your hen, she'd get over it. New introductions are never worry or stress free...there's ALWAYS a bit of pecking at first...seriously, if you really love the boy, let him lead a "normal" rooster life. He'll be so much happier in the end, and maybe you could even hatch some of his babies! GOOD LUCK!

I do appreciate help with this. Thank you. He stays in the pen with the others all day while Im at work. I made a separate section that is separated with wire. He can see the others and he spars with the other roos through the wire.

You know how roosters are, they get in all sorts of trouble. He could have tipped and hurt himself. lol. I know that during the AI process you massage the rooster's vent pretty firmly, and sometimes you rupture capillaries in the process. And that's what leaves the blood in the semen. Nothing to worry about unless there is a lot of blood, which might mean internal injury.

Thank you and I have tried, believe me, I have tried. Im not happy that he doesnt get along with the others, chases them, wants to fight the other roos to the death. None of this pleases me. I have spent so many hours out in the yard and pen with them all trying to assimilate him into the flock. Nothing is working. I keep hoping that he will fall in "love" with the new peepers Mama is hatching for me. Time will tell on that one though. The current flock is scarred to death of him is all I can say. Its not just a little pecking, its out-right panic when he enters the pen or yard with them.

Oh man, I feel a lot better having read this. I must admit I dont know what AI is but I like to hear that I most likely have nothing to worry about. Of course I keep thinking about what it would mean in humans (blood in semen or urine). Doctors would never take it lightly.
