Hmmm. I guess she could have been egg bound and taken care of it herself, she has laid and egg about 1 1/2 the size of that egg last week with no problems(I actually watched her lay that one) but I did not see her lay the one today, so maybe she was egg bound.sorry I misunderstood yes the fertile eggs will have blood on the inside a spot butt Maybe she was having a hard time getting the egg out. I have seven chickens that were egg bound and there was blood after they finally passed the egg. I don't know but when I used to raise Cockatiels and parakeets we always put a little bit of safflower seed oil or a natural oil in the food just a little bit like a couple drops into a quart.if your feeding a lot of chickens it won't hurt to put a little bit and just mix it so it has a very very light coating. we used to do this so they would not get egg bound but that's all I can say I hope this helps you a little bit
