We got an egg yesterday that had fresh blood on the shell. I think, but not sure, that the egg is Ethyl's.

She hasn't laid yet today but is in the nest box now.

Is this something I should be worried about?

    Thanks!

Its normal, soap and water is an easy fix.

Was it a larger than normal egg? I have had this happen before on very large eggs with no problem

iajewel is right. It is normal. I have 19 layers and it happens once every week or 2 around here! No worries! [IMG]

I had this happening at first with my Ginger as well - she seems to have regulated and no more bloody shells. I guess it makes sense when you think about it - must take a little while for their bodies to adjust to passing such a huge egg everyday!
