blood on feeder???

I once had bloody chicken footprints all over my porch. I inspected every bird and never saw an injury. Just keep an eye on your flock for now and try not to worry unless something else happens.
that’s so ominous! i’m going to keep an eye on them throughout the day and check them over again before bedtime. thank you for the help! it’s so easy to worry when it comes to your feathered babies.

Yeeeeeepp. I worry about EVERYTHING. Every little hiccup, cough, sneeze, or whatever. I've panicked over getting home late. Spent entire vacations pestering my "gatekeeper" to ensure the chickens are let out and locked up on time. It's ridiculous lol. But I have a zero tolerance policy for losing my babies!

i get that! this is my first flock and i haven’t even had them a year yet, so i’m still learning. i have the three older girls and two silkie cockerels (separate) who are around 15/16 weeks old. my older girls are around 33 weeks i think. can’t tell you how scared i was the first time i seen them sunbathing, i thought they were dead!

Yes! I had a chick that was injured the first time I ever raised chicks. First time I took her outside after her isolation she flopped over and just laid there flopping around. She was dust bathing, but I didn't know it so I thought she had some sort of problem! You learn quickly though! 😂

I had this happen recently. It was one of my pullets who was bleeding on the tips of her comb. It wasn’t very obvious when I checked them, and I couldn’t figure out which one it was. A few days later, and I saw blood in a nest and on the eggs, with one hen nearby. The tips of her comb were bleeding, so I’m assuming it was her. My guess is the tips were bleeding, and it got on the feeder as she was eating, and her comb was rubbing against it.
