Blood--quite a lot--on the roost and floor

Comb or wattles. One of mine scratched herself (I think that is what happened) and there was blood dripping (in my head pouring) down and pooling at her feet, but she was fine and slept through my entire panic about her imminent death.
I never did really find exactly where it was all coming from. It was all dried up in the morning and she cleaned up her face in her water bowl better than my gentle attempts at dabbing with a cotton ball!
Yes, indeed. I worry far more about my chickens and their imagined demise than is usually warranted. This gave me an idea though. The one with some blood splatter on her feet loves to stand in a water bowl when I put one out there on hot days. I'm going to do that today and maybe she'll wash herself off!

Sure enough, she waded right in. They all seem to enjoy a change from their nipple water source, but she's the only one who feels compelled to stand in it. I'm going to clean the roost as best I can, so I can tell if this repeats tomorrow. With any luck it is a one-time thing.

Quick follow-up. Everything absolutely normal in the coop this morning--no need to call in the CSI blood-spatter experts. So, I'm going to assume it was an injury to comb or foot that bled dramatically and then healed up so quickly it wasn't obvious. Thanks to everyone for assuaging my panic yesterday.

Glad it ended well for you!
