Hi just wondering if anyone has seen yolks this color from a hen before? I have two twins that I call The Twisted Sisters half Silkie half Black French Moran and they are laying regular size light brown eggs but the yolks are red in color. They taste great and I collect eggs daily so I know they are fresh. Any ideas? One on right is pure silkie mom's eggs

Your other birds yolks are lighter colored?
What and how exactly are you feeding?
Dark yolks are usually from feed contents.

As stated, yolk color usually comes from what they are eating.

I once threw in a bushel of damaged red peppers into the run.
The egg yolks were as red as your picture, probably worse. I was uninformed, thought my flock was dying a slow death...

Luckily, we now have the internet and this forum!
