blood ring or blind

Now to get serious! Due to the d*** dog attacks this year, the only thing I will be able to hatch this year will be:

Olive eggers - araucana rooster over brown egg layers, the Marans hen will produce sex-links

Sex-links from my Crested Legbars bred to the araucana rooster, if the eggs will hatch

The Legbar/leghorn rooster to all my other hens making EE's

The only pullets I will be at all interested in keeping will be the EE's.

that girl got plans !!!! if you only want the ee then why do the others? thats a stupid question. same reason we all do. cuz we can !!!

The sex-links I can sell!

I love olive colored eggs, but have discovered that using olive colored eggs for hatching produces eggs that come in every shade of ugly! I had one hen that laid an egg with a gray colored egg shell. If I had more room, i would still breed a couple of them a year because I love ALL colored eggs, ugly or not. But since the only dog proof pen I have will only hold about 10 hens, I am going to have to down size some. Leaving me only the hens that are useful for breeding:

I probably shouldn't mention my future plans - you know jinxing it all. But, here goes !

My son called me at work yesterday and informed me that his wife & he have decided that motherhood and business management is not working since the addition of my new grand daughter........(her health issues and all). They have decided that they would like me to come to ND and become a manager/bookkeeper for their business!!! He named a salary/benefit package that my present employer can't even begin to offer me........ PLUS the house right next door to his is for sale !

All I have to do is convince Mike that this offer is just what we need !
Well......and pack up and move.....

Wow enola they are some big future plans for you there!! I hope all goes well for you, it's sounds a great opportunity.

I know these are just a test batch though! The first eggs to be incubated from my polish that I hatched last year. Not sure how they are going to turn out though so didn't want too many. Not everyone is laying yet. Don't panic don't panic it will be full next time!! I promise!
