I will be excited for you yorkshire . looking last night I had 2 internal pips and nothing this morn . all but one was alive still. Ya, the serama. you are beating me !!! that is awesome. this new incubator can bite me.

Great!! Why do you hatch with the eggs in a carton?

The first time was because they were shipped eggs and had wonky air sacs so thought I would give it a try with them as had already incubated upright and didn't want to disturb them. Of the 12 eggs I ordered all 12 hatched. Clean up was also easier as most of the shell stays in the carton.
I find it easier to monitor eggs this way too as the hatched are not knocking everything around the incubator. My last hatch produced 11/11 that went into lockdown, I started with 13 had one clear and one day 10 quitter. Just like the method the only problem is if you have a wrong end pipper. But then again I wouldn't help it untill I thought hatch was complete. I don't open the incubator so wouldn't know untill I moved the hatched to the brooder.

Thanks granny! I'm sorry about the serama :hugs They seem very hard work, to hatch and keep. I read a very interesting article in "Practical Poultry" the monthly magazine I get about seramas. Hope you get some action soon, my fingers are crossed for you :fl I've got two pips now and others are moving. I'm trying to keep busy but the lure of the incubator means I'm not getting a right lot done.

why do today what you can put off til tomorrow ? I know what you mean though. about need a spatula to pry my nose off the viewing window. when they hatch that is. or if they will hatch. one has internal pip for 2 days now. I would make it an air hole if i could remember what one it was. I dont want to candle again. I think i know but not 100 %

:yuckyuck Love the spatula idea! I won't tell my other half about it though! I'm guessing and I think I'm about 99% right here that he will be waking me in the night to say another has pipped or panicking that one can't cant get out. He does not sleep well so is always good for chick watch on a night!!

Can you still not hear any peeping?

I havent heard any thing. no rocking, nothing. remember i said they looked to be behind on where they should of been? just wondering what will happen if they are a bit low in temps. as far as the chick itself. will it be healthy?

I beleive if not been too low like drastically low they may be just slower to hatch but not necessarily a unhealthy chick. After I candled yesterday I thought the eggs didn't look full enough of chick but they must be something like or I wouldnt have pips. So maybe yours will be just the same. Have your temps been low like way too low?

3 thermometers, all reading 100. but just from past times i say it is low. except for the spike. who knows, maybe it spiked all those other time on day 14. If one has internalpip for 2 days its bound to be out of air by now.
