see what we did ? its next to a 2week old bantam silkie

I should of took a pic. of it in my hand. it is so little it dont even look real. its doing good . my next 2 eggs dont. I havent seen anything like them but i suspect they are dead. the veins look cloudy? one looks like a really thick blood ring. if they died it was day 9-10. 3 eggs went in today. they were stored and they are from 2-4-6 days ago.

hahaa the silkie next to is is squatting down. the baby went under it and i couldnt see it. LOL the 2 eggs are the ones that started with the spider next to the air sac. i dont think thats normal. the next 3 were "settled" .

Bet the little serama thinks the silkie is Godzilla!!!

Have just left you message on your profile page. Have started a thread on incubating just laid eggs for other members thoughts on it. Hope you can subscribe to it. I'm determined to get to the bottom of your malpositioned chick troubles :he

the little baby still scares me. maybe they dont eat and drink much but it seems to me like it should be doing more. I havent seen it drink but i am not over there staring at it either. I have seen it peck at the wet food but this morning it flipped on its back and took it about 15-20 seconds to right itself. shouldnt it have better balance by now? and shouldnt it be spending most of its time pecking and looking for food? its not. it watches the others and sleeps mostly It is so tiny i cant tell about its crop.

I would keep dipping its beak in the water so that it knows. It should have a natural reaction to swallow what's on its beak then. Also with the food I tap my fingers in the food as mother hen would do to show them. If you try a bit of dry crumb it makes more noise which seems to attract them well.
But then again you can't be sure as you say you can't watch it all the time. Plus with it being quite small it will probably be eating and drinking less than the others naturally.
It's most likely sleeping more because it had a difficult hatch and is just generally a smaller chick.

i have been watching and trying to help it pecks the water and i scrambled it an egg and it tried to drink the egg. it seems hungry to me. :(

Do you have any polyvisol without iron (or equivalent) or poultry nutridrench, or sav-a-chick vitamins. I think a boost of vitamins could help to give it the energy it needs to be able to eat and drink enough. If a chick is doing poorly, sometimes its digestive system stops working properly. In some cases the vitamins can give them the kickstart they need.
