blood ring or blind

bad news i think, did a really fast candle because i have messed with them enough . i dont like shining the light on them . i think it freaks them out. I dont think it mattered. they look like they did on day 14 this is day 17 . I seen the same thing i always see. cloudy but there is still veining and i didnt stay long like i said but i didnt see movement . my LF eggs that went at the same time , I can see nothing because the egg is full. So it tells me so far it is the parents and not the bator or anything i am doing wrong. that doesnt help me at all. I paid 50 for the pair and am very disappointed. I will give them a good looking at come lockdown. I didnt see movement in my LF eggs either but they are brown eggs and like i said, very full.

Oh granny what a bummer :hugs

I really hope when you do lockdown there is something more positive for you to see. I would also think it's the parent birds genetics maybe and not incubation techniques, if this is consistently happening but other eggs you incubate are fine.

Although I havnt incubated serama eggs before I have read that they are quite difficult eggs to get to hatch and can be problematic.

Buying birds in is always a risk. I've just got a new roo and am paronoid that he's not going to be upto the job. Because I haven't reared him myself he is just so different in personality and behaviour compared to my own birds.

THANK YOU YORKSHIRE. i HOPE I AM WRONG AS WELL. oops, caps lock. LOL I do wonder, I know its not the roo or they wouldnt be fertile, the hen is A size or maybe smaller. maybe the eggs themself are too small? I should pick up a scale i guess. there is a weight suggestion for incubating these eggs. I have 2 bantam seebright pullets (mixed) that are just a size bigger then this hen. very tiny for bantam. I think i will give them to him. of course i cant sell them as serama but they would make me some tiny babys anyway. I hope.

It would certainly be worth a try!

I have no idea why but i put them in lock down. well, yes i do. my husband thinks i am blind and wanted me to. I know they are dead but in there they went. along with 3 LF eggs that one looks real good, one looks like a really big air sac and the other looked normal but too dark to see. think i might end up with one baby again. and not the one i was really looking for but i will take it. the mama serama is still sitting those 2 big eggs, looks so funny. not sure if i should add the 2 little girls now or wait. they are pullets. I think i am going tomorrow to buy a new turner and put it in the new bator then swap them (after i see if these hatch) use the old one for lock down.

Hmmm. Well if you decide to go ahead and put them in, I'd watch them to make sure they aren't going to mess with your broody and disrupt her setting. If they don't seem interested in messing with her, then you could leave them in.
I hope you get a better hatch this time.

Let us know how it goes.

ya, i will probably wait . I doubt if the eggs she has are even fertile. I just grabbed a couple from the coop.

2 pips in the big eggs so hopefully a buddy very little progress so far but thats normal. I want to bring something up. i have 3 thermometers all reading the same but these are large to jumbo eggs and today is day 19 . too hot for the tiny ones ? i got a new meat thermometer today, a scale and egg turner. at least i can calibrate this one.
