blood ring or blind

I think my polish pullet eggs are fertile? Should I give them a whirl in the incubator? What do you think? They have been laying approx 3-4 weeks.

you would have mid January babies so heat for a month i guess . I didnt see where you are from. yes i did, i forgot. LOL I have no idea on your weather. what is it like?

Weather is very changeable, but we are in winter. At the moment it is 6 Celsius but a few days ago it was 14 Celsius and we have had a couple of frosty nights. About -3 Celsius. Plus it's being very windy last few days. It's the UK so weather is always all over the place. Them having heat wouldn't be a problem, I usually brood in house for a couple of weeks then they go out into garage with heat.

I just can't decide what to do :idunno Part of me is saying "wait wait wait"and the incubation addiction is saying " Get that incubator out"

They are still young parent birds and I've never done pullet eggs before. They have always been eggs from mature birds that I've incubated before. Also I've just read about hatching chicks this time of year can cause them to start laying too early when they start to mature causing possible problems due to daylight hours etc.

Lol! I got out 4 incubators... They stayed in house for 10 days then garage til mostly feathered. Went to coop with reptile ceramic heat lamp and during all this weather was from 20 f to 40 f they are doing great. Only thing different from spring incubation was heat?

seems like I always end up with winter chicks. I keep saying no but somehow there they are. too busy in the spring going to th feed stores and looking to incubate then. hahaa I never had an egg laying issue but i wouldnt want you to go by just my experience.

I am hoping it goes better this time.  :fl   If the air cells looked too large, you were right to put in water.  You won't mess them up.

The Lil roo didn't make it :-( but lord was lookin out for me one of the chicks that I assumed was a Delaware turned out its a rhodebar roo also. So I got my pair

my polish has stopped laying already. I think i got 4-5 eggs from her then nothing. that was a few days ago . oh well. what i got is in the bator. LOL it is day 15 on the last of the serama eggs. I dont want to look. If one does hatch it will be a Christmas miracle . wouldnt that be day 19 ? they are probably gone by now anyway. thats the way they have all done except for the one that lived for 6 days.

I will be praying for a Christmas miracle for you granny :hugs

Maybe don't look at them just put them in lockdown and what will be will be.
Them there polish are monkeys arnt they!! Fancy only giving you 4-5 eggs. I wish I could send you some over I've got 4 laying now and am giving them away. Lord knows what I'm going to do if the other 7 turn out to be good layers and start. Im still not 100% which ones are actually laying but they don't half make a lot noise which then sets everyone else off!! So still don't know who is laying even the Roos are making a lot of noise when ome has laid. They are very strange birds.

I will probably wait til lockdown and take a look . if their in my hands already anyway i wont be able to resist. LOL thank you for the well wishes. giving them away. I must not be doing something right. hahaa i feed flock raiser but was giving them laying mash . I just like the flock raiser better. even though it is powder for the most part and a lot is wasted. they seem to do better on it .
