Blood Test Results Pg 7 11/12 Lilly R.I.P.

Cetawin, the internal laying started with shell-less eggs, soft shelled eggs, etc. Then eventually, they stop laying entirely and begin to lose weight rapidly. I cant feel anything odd in the abdomen, it's not bloated or anything. Eventually, though they keep eating, they get bone thin and weak. We do the necropsy and find the same thing every time, egg material congealed in the oviduct, like sausages in a casing. There is no cure except maybe hysterectomy, and no prevention that I know of. Dr. Brown says it's a hormonal imbalance and maybe I shouldn't get anymore birds from the same source. Now five of them have had it, only two are still alive.

A house call! Luck-eee. Your hard pressed to find an avian vet around here, let alone someone who make a house call.

Cyn, dang that sounds horrible. Well that is not the problem...her eggs were fine. I just dropped off the poo.

As I was typing this, she screamed twice and we went running in and she died in my arms.

OH! I'm SO sorry to hear! I had tears in my eyes looking at your little girl in the pics. You hang in there.....sometimes it's just their time. It'll drive you nuts if you feel like you have to have an answer why, trust me. It can be hundreds of things, and I think you did everything you possibly could, and most definitely more than many folks would! I'm so sorry...

Well Dr. Robbison is still coming with the ivermectin for the rest of the flock and he is going to look at her, maybe the fecal test Dr. Joe is doing now will show us something. if Dr. Robbison wants to do a necropsy I will let him take her with him (if I can her away from my DD who is still holding her). Lilly does not know how special she is, she has two vets working on helping her. Hopefully, if it is something major that could affect the flcok, her death will not be in vain.

I cannot tell you how grateful I am for all of you offering your advice, warm thoughts and well wishes. Cheyenne thanks you too, she kept coming to the computer last night and this morning asking "What do the ladies say is wrong with Lilly Mom?", she trusts you guys as much as I do.

There are a lot of tears in the house right now...yes, tears for a chicken. I know you guys will understand, she was loved and a member of our family.

Again thanks so much and I will keep you posted on what we find out about all of this.
