Thanks everyone. We are not giving up until we have some answers as to what happened. Perfectly healthy looking and acting chickens do not just get this way and die in less than 24 hours...there has to be a cause. We plan on doing everything we can to find it.

My poor hubby is dealing with me upset which is hard enough on him but seeing his daughter distraught, crying, holding a dead pet chicken is a really tough one for him...he is not handling it well at all. He is ready to call every vet in the country right now for answers. He is one of those type that if the girls are upset he wants it fixed immediately! LMAO

well, Lilly will either go with Dr. Robbison or she will be buried here. The Dr. will decide which way we go.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Just seeing those pics with your daughter crying made me cry. You did everything you could. It will be helpful to all to find out what the fecal says and what the vets have to say.

Please tell Cheyenne that I'm crying with her. I've lost some dear feathered friends this year and it isn't over. I pray that this is the last loss you will have for a very long time.

Cyn, hang in there. I know you have been through a lot this year with Zane, losing your girls and Hawkeye.

She is sitting here reading the posts/responses and appreciates all the hugs. She is still very very upset but has put Lilly in her box while we wait for the fecal test results and the vet to arrive.

I will keep you all posted on what we find out.

It's o.k. to cry. In fact go ahead, get it all out - cry, boo hoo, and shed buckets of tears - if not, you tend to leak forever.

Chy, I just recently lost my old cat to cancer and he died in my arms. First time I ever had a pet to do that. It was especially hard. And, I lost my pet chicken, Ruth, three weeks ago and still can't stop looking for her. She wandered into the woods like she always did and didn't come home one night. Even as an adult, it doesn't get any easier to lose a beloved pet.
