Blood Test Results Pg 7 11/12 Lilly R.I.P.

mainchick what a beautiful idea...I think Cheyenne would like to do something like that. She is out of school tomorrow too and we have some leftover material from coop building...maybe she could make her a nice wooden one until we can make a plaster one.

Thank you for that wonderful suggestion.

I'm glad you know and hope your mind is eased. How nice to have two vets' opinions. We always want to know the cause. It's hard to accept that sometimes, it's just some genetic weakness or a complete fluke. BUT that is so much better than some of the alternatives.

I'm glad that however heart breaking it was, that Lilly's passing was an isolated incident.

You can tell Cheyenne that we all have had our babies cross the bridge on us and she will be able to think back fondly on their touching of our lives.

I have a Memorial Box that has Slifer's spurs in it. Her leash, muzzle and diaper and the sock that she wore to keep her foot clean after I tried to clean out the infection.

I also have collected feathers from when all my babies moulted. I don't have many from Tom, slightly more from Jerry, a few from Penny, but tons from Obelisk and Slifer.

I also have a stepping stone kit that I'm going to put my departed birds' names on it.

Spottedcrow that is so sweet. I am a big softie...my wolf's ashes are in his urn on my mantel and I have his leash and picture there. I painted a wooden fan last night that Cheyenne wants to use as a marked until we can make a concrete one. so, when the clouds dry, we will get her name and etc on it.

He took a blood sample with him just to check as a precaution so I will let you know if anything changes.

Thank you Buff.

Geez, what a terrible saga, Cetawin. I'm sure it's devastating for everyone. At best, maybe it's a "life lesson" for your children. I think people who don't raise chickens don't understand the level of attachment.

Best wishes to you & your family...

I'm so sorry for you and Cheyenne that poor Lilly died. I only just found this and started reading and I was crying all over again as I just lost one of my own too.

It's awfully hard when they die, and it almost makes you not want to do this anymore (at least that was how I felt at the time) but we carry on and get more chickens and get happy again.

aaaawwww sorry you lost one too. It is hard but the antics of the rest of the flock kept us smiling already today.
