Bloody head?

Is there any chance a hawk got into the coop or run? Your description matches the damage that one my pullets sustained when she flew over the fence and was killed by a northern harrier a couple of days ago . . . a bloody head and neck with feathers on the head and neck stripped off and some flesh eaten in that region only.
 
No, this is not that kind of attack, it looks like she started bleeding, and crawled off to be alone. You know how if someone has a bloody nose, and the blood gets everywhere? That is what it looks like. I wonder if she did injure it somehow... I am way under staffed in the coop, so should not be a crowding issue. Weird
