Bloody hot water system grrrrr!!!!!

I think you should ring the Rheem company and reem them out...or yell appropriately. They'll blame the problem on minerals in your water, in all likelyhood.
Then, go to "on-demand" water heat, and be tankless. Not thankless, but tankless. We are.

Yes. It should have lasted much longer, unless there are "extenuating circumstances". Be ready for that lame argument.

Sorry, I got behind the posts!

We put a new one in a couple weeks ago and it came with a bad element. Just replace the element... much cheaper.

I just rang the rhemm company they were very nice I was told that the tank has a 5 year warrenty but the element and the other parts such as the thermostate are only under warrenty for a year grrr so i have to find a Rheem warrenty agent in my area and get them out to look at it she said it will cost about $85 for the part be it either the element or the thermostate and $130 service fee, grrrr

It has certainly saved us money. No sense in heating a tank full of water during the 10 hours per day that we are at work/school, and no sense heating a tank full of water during the 7 hours we sleep.

I don't think we have on demand over here ( Water restrictions) If I had gas that would be on demand but its an electric one. and we don't have gas lines in this part of the coast, all the new estates do but if we want gas we have to use those big bottles.

Don't you have off peak water over there?, its when the water tank only heats up once or twice a day. Here it only heats up once, i think it depends on what size water heater you have, if its a small one it heats up twice a day. So our heater only turns on at 12am in the morning and thats it. We have a 310 litre tank and its just enough for 4 of us, we sometimes run out of water

Well, I don't know that term "off peak water" but if your water heater only runs once daily, then you've got a very insulated tank. It gets very cold here in Iowa in the winter, as low as 10 below with wind chill often in January. Brrrrr. Hard to keep anything warm.
