please help!! I’ve tried to look at videos today & don’t know what to do. I found my baby w/ a prolapsed vent & egg, I was able to get the egg out by soaking her & using some petroleum jelly on her butthole (I watched a video & someone used it)... but now her butthole is bloody & I don’t know what to do am I supposed to push it in?? Tomrorow morning I’m going to get preparation h cause I heard putting that on helps the swelling ... do I push it back in?? Let it be?? Do anything else ??

Your poor hen. Yes, preparation H can help with swelling. First, I’d give it a nice warm Epsom salt soak. Can you tell if it’s been pecked?

It will be critical to keep it moist so the tissue doesn’t die while it’s outside her body.

Sorry, got distracted while writing this. Will post and see what others have said before I write more. I’m sure there will be lots of help here.

How do I know if it’s dead? I keep trying to clean it & not much will come off her .. to the right of the picture on the outside it’s black & I don’t know what that is

i don’t know maybe a week? I only noticed it today cause she wasn’t hanging with the others & was standing weird so I looked closer & saw a sack looking thing... can I use any Epsom salt?

Yes, I think so, but plain, unscented is what you need, I believe. Once you bathe her, can you post more photos so we can better help you? Do you know if she is pooping ok? When did you help her get the egg out?

Also, her abdomen looks quite pink in the photo. Can you tell if it’s swollen?
