BLOODY PROLAPSED VENT!!

I havnt seen her poop at all yet but this stuff that looks like white milky stuff is coming out ?? I got the egg out 4 hours ago I’ve only given her water & some greens
How do I tell if it’s swollen ? I would assume she is definitely backed up

Your hen is in acute crisis, sorry to state the obvious. The first pics posted show white nodules and I, along with @micstrachan , suspect those may be tumors. Tumors in chickens don't just happen. An avian virus produces them. The tumors can grow for some time before, all of a sudden, they interfere with bodily functions.

One key piece of information is necessary to complete a diagnosis, which to tell the truth, is still going to be a guess, but hopefully an educated one.

How has this hen been behaving? Lethargic or normally? If lethargic, for how long? Appetite, is she eating or losing weight? (Feel her breast bone for degree of sharpness) What does her comb look like? Color normal red or a dusky red with a touch of purple?

If she's been hanging out alone on the fringe of the flock, has she been holding her tail low and flat? If so, she's in significant pain, and you need to take that into consideration when deciding what action to take.

For now, a warm Epsom salt soak will relax her and help her circulation. If you have some Vetericyn, you can spray that on her. Then try to push the prolapse back inside. Preparation H is okay to use around the outside of the vent and on whatever is showing of her insides. Cortisone cream is probably better than Prep H if you have a choice.

The yellow creamy stuff is poop that goes along with this extreme condition. It indicates she's not well. It's just as well she has no solid poop at the moment as it would just cause the prolapse to come back out.

If you will answer the questions I have, we can better assess how bad off she is or if she may have the reserves to fight this.

please help!! I’ve tried to look at videos today & don’t know what to do. I found my baby w/ a prolapsed vent & egg, I was able to get the egg out by soaking her & using some petroleum jelly on her butthole (I watched a video & someone used it)... but now her butthole is bloody & I don’t know what to do am I supposed to push it in?? Tomrorow morning I’m going to get preparation h cause I heard putting that on helps the swelling ... do I push it back in?? Let it be?? Do anything else ??

i don’t know maybe a week? I only noticed it today cause she wasn’t hanging with the others & was standing weird so I looked closer & saw a sack looking thing... can I use any Epsom salt?
I’m so sorry. I’m in over my head here. Wondering g if the tissue coming out is cancerous. The yellow liquid may be urates. (?)

Calling for help.

Michelle, I'm just not sure either! I think you may be right, looks like cysts attached to the tissue. Good idea tagging more eyes to take a look.
@Deannarose
Is she alert?
Do you have vet care?

I don't believe I ever seen a prolapse like that. The discharge coming out is probably urates.
You feel like she has been like this for a week? You mentioned somewhere there was black tissue? Can we get a photo of that?
What do those round whitish/clear and pink orbs feel like?

I agree with soaking and keeping the exposed tissue moist while you decide what your next steps should be.

She started acting normal after we took the egg out, her cone color looks normal and She popped but not as much as she should have.

Is her prolapse staying in where it should? Is she eating? She should poop more as her appetite improves.
I’m scared to push it back in... she’s in the epsom salt bath now I’ll take pictures in a couple of minutes ... am I supposed to push the bumpy stuff back in ?

This inner part of her vent will eventually dry out or become infected if left outside her body. The longer it's left out, the lower her chances are of successfully having it return to its normal function. So yes, you need to push it back in and whenever it pops back out, put it back again. Use cortisone cream on the vent to reduce swelling and pain if you have it.
