She'll be fine... Most vets prefer that nothing be put on wounds until they evaluate.

Not at all they can wipe it off but you need to keep it moist anyway so you did good.
I think the best you can do now is just keep it moist and hopefully the vet and get it back inside and put a few stitches to hold it in. How is she acting other wise. At least you kept her separate from the chickens they would have had a field day with that . Are you close to Asheville? We're about 45 miles north east of Asheville.I just feel like I'm up against the clock with this issue. I thought a vet would be best for this because of last time. Everyone is just overbooked today because we had a lot of snow yesterday that closed them down. Now I'm waiting a lot longer than if I tried to help her myself which is what I didn't want to happen...

Injured wing what going on there? wound? It's a bummer when you have to go so far, we actually have 2 vets in our small town but neither will see poultry and one has poultry. I think I looked up once and the closest avain vet was about 2.5 hrs away.We actually have two ducks in together right now. She's having this issue and I think the other one has an injured wing...it is a lot at once to deal with. She appears okay. She is eating and drinking a lot so far this morning. Can't say as much for the other one...
We are actually an hour north of Greensboro. Greensboro is where I'm taking her though because that's where the vet I found is located.

I have never heard of putting one in a brightly lit area to keep them from laying. I'll have to look that up.We are back from the vet now. She had prolapsed. The doctor put two stitches in to keep it inside and he gave her antibiotic because he thinks she has giardiasis that's causing diarrhea that led to this happening.
We are supposed to keep her from laying an egg for two weeks while she heals. He told us that in order to keep her from laying, she needs to be kept in a brightly lit area. That is contradictory to everything I had heard. He said if she lays she will become egg bound with what he did. I'm a little worried about that since she is a regular layer.
Anyone have any additional advice on that?
wheres the link please? As for this little ducky, I'm not sure what's going on with her wing. I posted on the duck forum about it yesterday but I was told to take her to a vet too. If you want to look and have advice on that, I would appreciate it.
