Yay for all the baby chicks. I have 5 so far. One zipping now, one with a pip and one that's wiggling and one I haven't seen move but this is also from the bator that was opened for like 12 hours and cooled off so they're a little slow Maybe anyway I have to go to work today so we'll see what I have when I get home

I had one with eyes stuck shut from egg gunk on a hatch last fall...took me a day to realize the darn thing couldn't see at all. It was an all black chick and just kept cheeping and cheeping. Had to clean them 2-3 times before both they stayed open. That egg gunk is like glue, but I found that a stiff old tooth brush can help remove it from down after it dries.

So funny, just the other day I was feeling like my 3 week old chicks hadn't grown much. They seem like GIANTS compared to these freshly hatched fellers!
I think the problem is that they're in the coop with chicks a month older and everyone is growing, so it seems like no one is growing. If that makes sense.
