Blowing Eggs - Craft Questions

LittleCickenRacing Team, you aren't hijacking the thread. It's about what crafts work on eggs. So go ahead and post those instructions when you get a chance!!!

Love your work. It is gorgeous! I've worked enough with that clay to know that you are very talented and have had a LOT of practice. Thanks for sharing your know-how!

Where do you get those cute little chicks to put in the eggs???

We buy them at the $ store at Easter time.

Also, do you put the clay on the broken egg or do you break it after it is baked?

The eggs get real slippery when I sand them under running water AFTER they are baked. They pop out of my hand & break sometimes. Rather than throw them away, we use them as just hatched displays.

How fragile are they? How do you pack them when you sell them at fairs or shows for them not to break.

Since they are blown out eggs, they are VERY FRAGILE. We use a very high tech, low cost packaging container to ship & transport the finished eggs. The general public call them egg cartons.

These eggs are sooooo beautiful!!

I have used a bicycle pump to blow out eggs. It is a lot easier on the eardrums than using your mouth. Poke a small hole in each end, use a toothpick to scramble the yolk, then insert a ball pumping needle connected to a bicycle pump into the same hole that the toothpick fit into. a couple of GENTLE pumps and it all comes out.

Just be sure to wash the needle before the egg dries in it and it will still work for pumping up balls, too.
