BLRW/BBS Ameraucana Chick... It's a GIRL for Sure (Newer pics post 45)

I do think she'll get some sort of lacing in her plumage later, but whatever happens, she's a reminder that genes are like tiny little leprechauns, playing tricks on you when you least expect it.

Hey, Rita has some blue underfluff! Just noticed that yesterday. No real changes you could see in a picture yet. Will post new pics in a week or so, unless I think I can capture the changes sooner.

Hello,

Just thought I'd post a picture of my chicken for comparison.

This one came out of a blue egg laid by an araucana (Australian standard). I have no idea what the father was - i thought RIR, but now I have no idea. She is just over 8 weeks old now. I'm interested to see how she turns out.

Here is Rita today. Tried to get a pic of her bluish underfluff, but it doesn't show the true shade in the picture. She will be 8 weeks on Wed, so I guess it's pretty definite that she is a she. She's a very calm, sweet girl.

Well, Miss Rita will turn 10 weeks old on Wednesday. Here she is today. I think her body shape is much more like her Ameraucana ancestry than her Wyandotte side, don't you? She doesn't really have a beard, though, like I originally thought when I started this thread.
