BLRW/BBS Ameraucana Chick... It's a GIRL for Sure (Newer pics post 45)

It's not my DH, Karen, but the husband of the nice woman who sent me the eggs. It was his rooster who got in with her hens, I take it. Or maybe they were running together for a time and she'd just separated them, can't recall the details. I'm pretty sure of Rita's parentage since she looked exactly like a BLRW chick when she hatched from her blue egg.

There's that big hunka rooster! Thanks for posting his picture. Hey, all my roosters seem to love the bearded ladies, so he's not alone, Sam! Rita's a cutie. Can't wait to see what shade of green she lays.

Rita looks like a cockerel to me Cynthia - those wattles in the very first picture you posted just look too big for a hen at 5 weeks? Very interesting cross tho - would love to see pics as he/she grows!

I hope Rita is not a Rodney, but nothing would surprise me. She's over six weeks old now and no pink at all in wattles or comb, nothing to indicate a cockerel at the moment. I think the close up pics make the wattles look bigger than they are, LOL. As always, the best sexing method is the "wait and see" method.

Well my vote is pullet. Especially with the single comb, she is going to have a bit of wattle. She does look like a RIR--amazing. It will be fun to see what color egg she lays!
