Blue’s bumblefoot

Scab on the heel of the right foot came off today and a lot of blood and pus came out. Left foot none of the little scabs seem to be loose enough but that foot seems to be the one that seems more sensitive now

Looking a lot better! Keep up the good work.

So we have had some rain at night here and the ground has been damp and so in an effort to keep her feet relatively dry while healing I have been keeping blue inside while we treat the bumblefoot

The little scabs on her toes are shrinking every day and slowly disappearing. We got a couple scabs off with a little pus out of one but just blood out of the other and they have healed over. We got pus out of the bumble on her heel and a solid chunk of something gross which I assume was the core, and its scabbed over. The scab came loose after her epsom salt treatment and it was just some blood that came out. No noticeable pus, we put some iodine on it and first aid poultry spray we got. And it’s scabbing over again. Once that is healed do you think it’s safe to put her out in the pen?

I would have to see pictures of the underside of her foot to tell whether she's at the stage where she can be put out or not. Bacteria are microscopic, so any little bit of opened tissue they can get into, they'll take the chance, and you'll end up re-doing this whole process.

Bandaging feet every day can be a laborious process, so your may considers looking into getting "duck booties".

First pic is the right foot from yesterday. That scab on the bottom is a scab and not necrotic. That came off a few days ago with pus and a solid chunk of something gross. This is scab tissue from the wound healing i think. It’s much lighter and almost gone this morning

This morning we got the ones on her toe to come off. Not really any pus buy it drained and we dressed it

Left foot, the little scabs have mostly come off and the swelling on each bump is down today.

These are from tonight

The big lump on the bottom pic formed tonight after the epsom salt bath. I was able to get a long string of pus out. That foot had been the one hurting her so hopefully it struts to feel better now

You could probably let her out, but just try to make sure her pen is clean and as dry as possible.

Cool.
We have had some rain and the roof is leaky so I’m going to go out after work and get a tarp to put over the roof to help keep it dry and lay some fresh straw down and will put her out tomorrow and see how it goes

So before and after pics (first is before, next 2 are after and taken tonight) After about 3 or so epsom salt treatments am hoping it’s looking better

After the first epsom salt treatment there was blood and pus seeping from each area. Squeezed each a bit and more blood And pus came out

now very little, to no blood or pus comes out and nothing when I squeeze on them

sparkles, my other rescue duck just had injuries on her feet and not bumblefoot so this is my first time treating it and I’ve read the thread here on it but am not sure what good progress would look like.
It's the same as chickens in terms of you should always wear plastic gloves when handling the infected, dispose of them, and wash your hands after handling. Also, if you haven't already, quarantine the infected. Hope this helps!

So moved her back out to the pen today after putting a fresh layer of straw down. Will keep an eye on her and make sure the bumble keeps disappearing but she seemed very happy being with the other ducks
