Blue Ameraucana thread!

So are blue Ameraucana like other blues in that you end up with a mix of blue black and splash?

Yes. The blue color in the pure Ameraucana is like most others in that they do not breed true. Here is a nice little genetics/color helper I found in another thread. Note: it's roo x hen.

Black roo x Black hen= 100% black

Black x Blue = 50% black 50% blue

Blue x Blue = 25% black 50% blue 25% splash

Splash x Splash = 100% splash

Splash x Blue = 50% splash 50% blue

Splash x Black = 100% blue

I bought two blue am girls who were covered by a black am roo. I hatched to eggs, and they were both blue chicks! Hooray!

Hi,
Here is our blue, Silver Belle. She? is about 5 months old. We are new to chicken raising and was just wondering is this a hen or rooster and about how old are they when they start laying.

Clearly a pullet. Won't be a hen for another 7 months.

Well here's our pullet/rooster?? A few months later. No crowing yet, but no eggs either. Still not sure, but leaning towards rooster.
