Lizzychick, are you located in the Chicago area? If so whereabouts. I am in southeast Wisconsin about 25 miles north of the state line. I also have some greenfire bcm's that haven't started to lay yet, but should be starting in about a month, so I don't know what the eggs will look like. I have also been hatching a few of those dark eggs crossed with a blue copper marans rooster. So I have some young blue and some black copper marans. If you do any hatching, I could sell you some of those dark eggs for hatching.

I'm in the western suburbs about an hour outside Chicago. We are only allowed 6 hens and no roos in my city. I'm already attached to these chicks, so I won't be getting anymore for another few years. But I'll have to keep in mind to reach out on this site when it does come time. I'm pretty bummed. I thought I could get all the colors I wanted in eggs and feathers from one place in one shipment. Easy peasy. Or so I thought. These girls I have are cute and fun. Maybe I'll be surprised in the upcoming months.

Well you'll have a variety of colored eggs. As long as you're not planning to breed them I'm sure that you'll enjoy all their unique personalities, and heck you may get lucky and get nice dark eggs from your marans. You'll have several months to spoil them before worrying about the color of their eggs. Sometimes I wish that I didn't have roosters here, they're 99 percent of the unrest around here. I hope they all stay healthy and happy for you, post some pics from time to time to let everyone see how they're progressing.

uh oh.......don't say post some pics, cuz the crazy chicken lady also has a love of photography!! This batch of chicks pics are in the Gallery, I just updated it yesterday, so its easy to find front and center!

Very nice pictures.
After looking at them, I was wondering how you determined which chick was what. Does the ameraucana have ear tufts or a beard, I couldn't tell from the pictures? And usually the Easter Eggers have tufts also because they're mated with ameraucanas and a brown egg breed to get green eggs.

Meyer has videos on YouTube of most of the variety of chicks they carry to help people figure out which chick is which. The one I posted has the fluffy face and the legs turning slate that looks like their ameraucana chicks. Then I had 4 chipmunks. Three were the exact same size and had matching darker contrasting stripes, so they had to be the BLR Wyandotte since I ordered three of those. The single larger more muted chipmunk had to be the EE since I only ordered 1 of those. It's my understanding that EE can have any combo of physical attributes. Muffs or beards are common, but not all have them. I went on the ameraucana breeders club website last night and their picture of a blue ameraucana chick does look like mine.

I was just wondering because I couldn't see the tufts in your pictures, all the ameraucanas should have them. The one that you have as the Easter egger has a red tint to its down like the blr Wyandotte, that's why I was wondering if it had tufts/muffs.

The other thing that I was not sure of was the picture of the chick in the sidecar of the motorcycle (very cute and my favorite ) looks blue in the photo and seeing the breeds that you ordered I don't know which one it could have been besides the blue ameraucana. (I'm assuming that was one that didn't survive, sorry )
