Blue Ameraucana thread!

Pics
I am moving to the southeastern side. Perhaps a bit far but perhaps we could figure something out. BTW, do you happen to know or go to any good chicken swaps/sales anywhere northeast of you, do you? Maybe we could meet there? I'm going to the small animal swap in Jacob's Cave, MO., OCT 1-4 this fall. I can hardly wait. :D

We're from a little town in SEMO called Charleston, Mo near Cape Girardeau and go there about once a month- it's only 3 1/2 hours away from Nashville. I've never been to Jacobs Cave, looks like it's 7 hours from here.

I just had closing on the new house Tuesday and moved the first trailer load in yesterday! Lawn has only been partially mowed recently. Looks more like a hayfield than a yard right now, lol. Gotta take S-I-L's mower over in the next couple days to take care of that then it's back to PA for another load. :/
Once all the stuff is here, it's time to work on a home for the flock I want. :cd:jumpy:yiipchick :D

Hi everyone!

I live in Southern California - specifically the Los Angeles suburbs!
We have no hatcheries near us and rarely any breeders ):

I was lucky to find someone only 40 minutes away from me that had amazing breeds.. it was truly heaven!

I was half expecting a sketchy place when I got there but gosh.. the facility was gorgeous!

Super clean, very spacious, and so many wonderfully made pens for chickens/breeds of all ages!
Off the top of my head (the breeds that he had that I can still remember): French Blue and Black Copper Marans, true Blue Ameraucana's, Speckled Sussex's,
Barnevelder's, Silver and Red Laced Blue Wyandotte's, Dark and Light Brahma's, Buff Orpington's, Australorps, Silkies, Cream Legbars and much more!

The best part is that they are all $15, except for the Blue Copper Marans, which are $20!

I bought his last Blue Ameraucana and Cream Legbar! Of course I also had to pick up Red Laced Blue Wyandotte since I didn't have one!

I'm going back there this weekend (he hatches every Friday) for another Cream Legbar, Barnevelder, and Blue Copper Maran

Not sure where his stock is from.. but I do know he acquired his Cream Legbars from some guy that bred them for 30 years in San Diego then retired..

Maybe he got his Ameraucana's there too?

He promised me that he breeds true Ameraucana's.
I believe the guy, since he also offers Easter Egger's.

Anyways, here's some pictures of Akeira:

Should I be worried about the bit of brown on her head?
They were straight run.. so I'm really hoping this is a pullet

I had someone purchase day old chickens from mypetchicken and they are the Blue Ameracaunas. They ordered all hens which we all know isn't 100%. Today they woke up to a crow, surprise, not all hens. So they gave me the rooster which is a splash. At first I questioned if it was an Ameracauna because it has not bread or facial feathers but after looking closer it looks like some hens may have pulled those out and they are growing back. I still know nothing of the breed. I am attaching pics but they are not the best. He is 6months old.

Here are my sweet little things! I am new and so excited to have them! They are around 8 weeks and i think I am beginning to to see some differences!

It took me almost an hour to post those pictures! Lol! I kept getting kicked off and had to put them in different posts!

If anyone needs to add to their breeding stock I have 4 Ameraucana cockerels available. 3 are black and I have one blue left. They're around 3 months and have been handled since they were hatched. If you're interested PM me.

I have some Ameracauna and Easter Eggers I need to sell. I hatched way too many and just when I think I know what is a hen and what is a rooster I figure out I am wrong. In the Easter Eggers I can tell but in the Ameracaunas I am waiting on a crow or an egg. HA! They are almost 4 months old and the Ameracaunas are bigger than the EE. Just private message me, I live in NW GA.
