Cyn...baise is AMAZINGLY HUGE!!!! He looks like you avatar only black! He could use a little help in the crowing department though. It's, well, sad really.

i'll have to get some current pics. He's just bulked up so much in the past month or so.

There are quite a lot of differences in the two. A few differences are tail angle, length of backs, tail shapes, feathering (of course) width, heads, and quite a lot more, etc. Your birds are beautiful, but they don't look much like mine, to my eye - and that is NOT meant as a negative comment, just that I see a world of difference. The difference when you see them in person is astounding. I agree that some of my birds look like basketballs with heads at times, LOL, especially when they are dust bathing, but I don't see the cochin thing at all. But - I will say that if I could not have my English Orps, I'd go back to my American Orps without a second thought. I just love Orpingtons.

Technically except for a select few birds they're all at least 1/2 American orpington.

I wish I had some 100% UK and hopefully one of these days I'll have some.

No one said you couldn't voice your preference for the American type, but I guess some of us have differing opinions on whether you do that without being snarky about the English style. JMO

Well Katy - hopefully I'll have some 100% English Orps available later this year -

all my fertile pure English eggs hatch !!! One of my goals is to get 100% English out to folks who love and appreciate them as much as I do.

Mary - your Raven is just a beauty. SUch a beautiful, glossy black.

But I'll mosey on back over to the English Orp thread since this thread is for American Orps. Sorry for the intrusion folks.

Well I guess I can't be prejudice anymore. I talked to the gal I got my birds from and it seems they are 50% English and 50% American.. go figure LOL.. And all this time I thought they were American.. just goes to show you what I know. Some of the birds are probably 4yrs or more old too..
