Blue Andalusian thread!

My Andies are beautiful. At 10-11 weeks old, the roo already has a large flowing tail, and a HUGE comb (like, 2-3 inches tall, which he has had since around week 7) and last week, he began crowing! I just simply call him Big Grey. He's the same size as my 11 week old Jersey Giant roo. He's gonna' be a big boy!

There is a show here in Fallon next weekend. I don't know if you were planning to attend or if you know someone who is. What are your goals as far as raising Andalusians?

I know I have a blue male that can go. As far as pullets though, I don't have many to choose from and you would need to understand that they are NOT show quality. I know I have one blue girl that can go but I'll have to check and see if there is another. I didn't do a lot of breeding last year of my large fowl so don't have many to choose from... and even fewer I want to hang onto. I have LOTS of bantam project females.

Send me a PM if you're interested. We don't need to tie up the thread with this discussion.

We didn't set out with the idea that we would be breeding, but not that we have a rare, heritage breed flock we have decided that is probably what we should do with some of them. Particularly those that are good examples of the breed. Do you know a good source for a cockerel as you have described?

I lost 4 of my 5 Andalusians, the hunting terrier got into thecoop.
Does anyone have any for sale - S Can?

if by chance you are coming to northern california, i have a young blue andalusian cockerel - he is only 3 months, i was thinking to breed with him next spring...but he will probably end up at the feedstore eventually ....his parents are from sandhill preservation last year.
