Blue Andalusian thread!

Pics
Wow, TherryChicken. Was he scheduled or unscheduled. Captain Jack Sparrow was gorgeous.

I have an Andalusian, black, that is the sweetest chicken if I let her come to me first before all of the other chickens. Otherwise, she is a bit stand-off-ish. Like she is holding a grudge for my petting someone else. I was told that she would lay medium to large sized eggs. 8 weeks and counting. Can't wait!

She is beautiful with glints of emerald and teal in her feathering. Pictures do not do her justice. Plus, she is extremely camera shy and small.

Im actually selling my 2 15 week old pullets. I had them for jack, but since he's gone, I really no use for them. Someone has spoken for them, but I have jacks mixed babies. Will be interesting to see what they look like. I know there is one barred cockerel already.

Can I kindly have your opinions on these two 12 week old cockerels?:

With Splash pullet

#2 (who was most uncooperative)

And the Blue pullet

They look pretty nice. The blue pullet is very nice, color wise. A little bit dark but she's not bad. The standard calls for their hock joints to be visible well below the belly, like you see on the males and even the splash female.

Just a word of caution... this is the age where mine start to walk a little funny... picking their feet up pretty high with the toes spread wide apart while walking, not a relaxed gait at all. This is due to not enough calcium in their diet. Start watching them walk and if they start like I've described, you'll need to get them a feed with more calcium in it. Flock Raiser by Purina is good, it has a slightly higher calcium content than regular chick starter and its a good feed for them. If you've been feeding it all along, you probably won't even notice any strange gaits.

Good luck with them.
