Blue, black, white and splash australorp how to get them

Do you guys have hatcheries in your country? That's where most are coming from here in the US.

We do have what we call an Austra white.. but it's not a pure white Australorp.. it's a cross between white Leghorn and black Australorp.

I know there are also some "sport" whites that have showed upnin certain breeds.

That's where many of us find our birds easily and readily available.

Otherwise.. if we want a color that doesn't exist in a breed.. we breed for it by crossing with something as close as possible and easy to breed back.. for example if you only have black Australorp.. then maybe breeding to a blue or splash Orpington.. then crossing back until we get what we want.

Blue is a recessive diluter gene to black. Splash, is two copies of that gene.. I think. Here's a basic chart for how BBS works..
