BLUE BLUE EGGS

I finally caught my wild type colored EE pullet Tana, on a nest. She's about 7 months old and to my surprise she lays an XL beautiful blue egg. Tana is in the pen which contains a blue ameraucana rooster and numerous true araucanas. I'll be hatching her eggs.

I think what I hear you saying is you would be happiest if you had hens or PTL pullets laying very blue eggs NOW. You could contact a Ameraucana Breeder Club members (who are also BYC members) such as
Jean-home.sprynet.com/~rribbeck/or Cree Farms-creefarm.fateback.com
and ask them if they have any older birds laying blue eggs they could ship you. Or you can look a the websites for Amer Breed Club or the Araucana Breed Club for closer members to you. Perhaps they would have a blue layer that isnt quite there for conformation. Egg color is something being worked on by responsible breeders, and in all honestly I have hens from three different ABC breeders and they all lay different shades of blue. While two of them are VERY blue, I wouldnt claim their chicks would lay that color until I saw it for myself. The Rooster also contributes genes to egg color. I would think if you bought chicks from blue eggs and waited 6m for them to lay and it was light blue or greenish it would be dissapointing for you. If you are willing to put the money and travel effort into it make sure you get what you want.

I am curious.... why do you want a blue egg layer so bad? $50 is a high price to pay for a hen, although I am not sure Id sell any of mine for $50. They lay the sort of eggs you are looking for, but to replace them with new chicks would take me about 8 months to grow them out to laying age. Are you interested in hatching eggs or chicks? You dont want a rooster for breeding? where are you located?

Due to the vagaries in the fertility of the eggs from rumpless birds, I will no longer sell eggs. I will have Chicks from the same eggs available at auction on Eggbid in a couple of weeks.

A tankfull of Tufted Rumpless chicks

I have a hen that lays pure blue but she is family favorite. I also have 5 chicks growing who lay pure blue. And I am purchasing more soon. But $50 is a ton for a chicken. lol I paid like $1 for my blue egg laying chicks. I suppose I am just lucky to live in a highly farm animal populated area. Anyway. I live in Illinois so it would be impossible to give you some. Or else I would share. lol

Don't go crazy and spend $50. There is some nice blue egg laying chickens out there for a fair price.
