Blue/Brown Eggs, Easter/Christmas Eggs - Getting my craft on!!

That turned out really cute. I'm thinking of making more of these and putting them on my downstairs tree this year just putting them all over the tree.

Aww I like your little bird! What is the beak made with? I just got a pack of rub ons that had those little gems on it. Unfortunately the rub ons all got stuck on the backing sheet after only doing 2 tiny ones, but I still have the little gems! I think I'll make a couple with those too! I like the BOSS beak but cant really find anything that I really like the eyes!

Let us know if anyone finds something. I was planning on making a few more within the next couple days and I might just leave them blind until I find something I really like! I want to find something natural because of the BOSS beak, the little stick feet and the feathers.

Maybe I look in the dried bean section next time I go grocery shopping, or maybe a small pasta.. I should go look to see what I find outside but it's a little damp out still.

I have enjoyed looking at everyone's eggs the past few weeks. I have lot's of eggs in different stages of unfinishness. I really like the little birds, too! So cute. I don't really have any chicken feathers laying around-whenever there is a cute little fluffy one-one of my chickens will eat it before I can get to it.

My sister-in-law cleans A LOT of pheasants and makes pheasant wreathes. For those of you that have been around pheasants more than I have-Do you think pheasant feathers would work?

Again, beautiful eggs everyone!

What did you use to make the dark brown eggs look so golden all over? They are absolutely beautiful!

Hi Kristi, and thanks for the compliment. I used plain, cheap spray paint, in antique gold or something similar. I very lightly spray the egg as I turn it to get a light 'flecking' effect. You can always add more. Plan on doing a couple of 'test' eggs to get the hang of how much to spray, but it's not hard. Good luck!

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to do some egg carving, and some of it comes out okay, but my Dremel tool just vibrates too much to do anything intricate. I don't like doing exactly what others do, so I'm trying to find my own little niche. I have a question for you who do craft shows. When you sell your egg ornaments do you provide a box or something for the customer to put it in, or do you just let them take it as is? I used to do craft shows a lot when I was younger, and most of the ornaments I did then were carved or wood burned wooden eggs. I did real good with selling those, and I even personalized them right on the spot.

Anyway, I just happened to come across this thread the other day, and now that I read the whole thing thought I'd just throw up a picture of one I did. Nothing fancy, not even painted, just did it to see how it would look.

I'm taking a mandatory week or two break from eggs. I keep having these ridiculous 'egg nightmares' as we call them. I have the same problem when I hatch eggs I have chickie nightmares, but they're not as bad as the egg ones. So I'm making myself stop for a little while, then I'll pick back up and try to finish 2-3 eggs/day. ONLY 8 more weeks til christmas..
