Great job doing something different!

I tried to do some w/ a crackle paint effect...it turned out lousy. But I'm hoping someone else is willing to try something similar. Again, I don't have the patience for trial and error. I'm hoping to find some way to do a tortoiseshell effect. (I can't remember where I saw this done...HGTV maybe?...on a coffee table...) I just thought a tortoiseshell egg ornament would look great.

those look awesome! I now have to find some mod podge, so skewers and mod podge are both on the list.

Hi! You should be able to get that crackle effect by painting the egg with diluted glue (dries clear school-type), then painting your color over that. I don't know what it is about the glue that makes the paint want to 'crackle'.
Or they sell a product that you paint on before you paint your color.

Thanks all! My Barred Rocks share a pen with my Ancona ducks and I saw a BR feather curled around a duck egg in the nest box the other morning --- that image stuck in my mind.

If you can't find skewers, can't you just sharpen some straight sticks to use? If I didn't have mod podge, I'd be tempted to use a 'dries clear type glue'.

I know many of us have eggs we can blow of our own, but with the Thanksgiving rush on my farm eggs I was short for the craft show I have this Sat. I got an AMAZING ebay seller, I lost his auction because of a whole dime and didnt wake up in time to bid again. I contacted him and he made a listing that day for me, he then sent me 30+ eggs from small to even 4 HUGE goose eggs, even sent it priorty for me and made it to me in 4 days, Im In Alaska folks!! The sellers name is rurtg I can not say enough about how he went above and beyond to help me. So if yall need any eggs look him up

Yes! I bought crackle paint. It gave clear directions...but I overdid it with the brushing technique. Because my girls aren't laying...I don't want to mess around with the few eggs I have!
