Im feeling happy with my first try! Sorry focus is bad. My camera is junky. I found my Dremell to be great for drilling holes for blowing.

I decorate eggs also. This is one of my goose egg ornaments I made for this year. I cut my eggs with a dental tool. If you really want to see some beautiful eggs go to the International Egg Art Guild's web site. You will be amazed at the eggs there.

I also hot-glued a bunch of eggs together in the shape of a star, I used like 18 eggs maybe, for a tree topper! I have pics, but I left my camera at home. I'll post some pics when I get off work in the morning.

steigersa Ive seen this type of thing and wonder: how long does it take you to get to the point you arent breaking them when you cut the hole and #2 what is your price range on your finished product and #3 how much do you spend in equipment and materials to get started?

I just found out on Monday that their is such thing as Glossy Modge Podge. I bought my Modge Podge at Hobby Lobby and they only had one kind "matte". I was wondering why my eggs were not as shiny as some on this thread. Went to Michaels and they have Huge container of Glossy Modge Podge for 8.99 and I have a 50% off coupon for Saturday so im going to get it. I had another question I painted my first one yesterday using Folk Art paint I already had and some of the ones I have seen on here are much brighter colors. What is the best kind of paint to use?

Egg Rookie, Egging is very expensive!!! But once you start it's very addicting. You have to try every single kind of egg out there. I have a post on hobbies with my Cinderella coach and a wedding egg both made from Ostrich eggs. The coach if sold would be around a thousand dollars. There is that much work in it and the supplies are expensive, just the base alone is $80. My goose egg ornaments are $35 and my turkey egg ornaments are $25, for the most part, depending on how much time I've spent on them. I have a hot air balloon made from a goose egg and part of a turkey egg and that one will be $45. I just went to the Ohio Egg Art Show a few weeks ago and the masters at egg art have ornaments anywhere from 95 to 200 dollars. Most of the supplies you use on eggs are not found in your average craft store, you order them from egging dealers. And I do have a list of all of them if you would like to see what they sell. There is an electric train that fits in an ostrich egg I want to get for my grandson, but the train is $75 and my grandson is only 5 so I know he won't take care of it yet. My daughter will be he will want to play with it. So till he is a bit older I won't make that one yet. Time, that depends on what I'm doing, if I'm beading an egg I have spent up to 55 hours on just one egg, because most of the beaded eggs I do I put one bead on at a time. My oranments once I get an idea and work out the first egg after that they go really fast. Cutting out eggs you have to be extremely careful NOT to breath in the egg dust, so if you are using a dremel tool, make sure you have something to suck the dust out of the way and make sure you have a mask on, Egg dust in the lungs turns to cement!!!!!!!!! BE CAREFUL!!!! You really need a dust box if you are cutting eggs. They also sell them at the egg suppliers. I bought a dental tool to cut my eggs, it hooks up to a compressor and can cut very fine filigree, the took was $300. They have them cheaper but the cheaper ones are worthless. And don't by the turbo carver!! If you look around that one comes up in the searches right away adn it's a piece of crap. I do spend a fortune on my eggs and my husband is sorry I decided to get back into this because of the price but he knows I love doing it and puts up with my mess and the money I spend. If you have any more questions just ask and I'll answer. You can also see more eggs on facebook, just join the international egg art guild page, or egg art. Or even add me as a friend my name is Sandy Leggott Steiger.
