Blue/Brown Eggs, Easter/Christmas Eggs - Getting my craft on!!

what a great way to raise money. I'm sure yours will go fast. These are just beautiful. You did such a nice job on them. And those feathers are absolutely beautiful. you could make a set of 4 ornaments, that way you have more to raffle off!!! LOL

I just stumbled upon this thread....What beautifuly decorated eggs and amazing talent. Totally awesome. I think I'm gonna try this for my tree. Plus as gifts to right people....what a great keepsake!!

yes I should have done that but as usual I was over achieving and thought.... if I wanted some to put on a tree I'd want more than 4, so i made bigger sets of 18!!! HA Thanks lots of clubs set up raffle tables at these bigger shows and have member donate items to raffle. It's a great way to raise money because lots of people are there and if its soemthig chicken-y everyone puts their tickets in those bags.

i brushed on some modge podge, tehn stuck the feather to it, then used a stiffish paint brush to smooth it out and arrange it and all then let it dry before triple thicking it

I gathered these feathers after a coyote grabbed one of my young boys. He is now my main rooster and I love him! Thankfully I caught it mid attack! Glad I saved the feathers.

Wow I am going to have to try this! But I got a couple questions. What do you use to poke the whole and what is the best method of heat drying?

Thanks!

Chillin with my Peeps that chick is beautiful. I love those feathers. You did such a nice job on it.
Cornfed, I don't heat my eggs, I just let them dry out naturally. If you put them on a paper towel with the hole down they dry by morning. I've never dried my eggs in the oven. I think it dries them out too much, they should have some moisture to them to keep them from getting too brittle with time. allot of people who do eggs put emu oil on them to keep them from drying out or if they have been sitting for years they freshen them up with the oil. It sinks right into the egg shell.

Oh I forgot you asked how to put the hole in the egg. I use a dremel with a small drill bit on mine. I don't do two holes, I only put one hole in the bottom of my eggs and clean them from just one hole. Most eggs you buy online will only have one hole in them. I blow mine out with the compressor on a very very low setting, doen'st work great with chicken eggs they just blow apart. But a friend of mine does her eggs with a water pick. I can post the youtube video of how she does it if you would like.
