Thank you for posting on the thread, I haven't posted yet because I don't have anything to show you but I am reading and learning from every word... :)

(I have 3 nice fat fluffy blue pullets, and some blue copper hatching eggs getting set next week, I got all girls the first time LOL!!!)

Are Blue copper splash discussed on this thread as well?

I hatched what was supposed to be "blue splash" but the copper on my cockerel tells otherwise. The pullet has just started to lay the most beautiful dark reddish eggs and I'm in love.

I'm sure these two are no where near SOP, but I thought I would post my cockerel and pullet here to verify that they are Blue Cooper Splash Marans. They are 25 weeks old today and my pullet just started laying 4 days ago. I hatched them from eggs that were labeled as Blue Splash Marans - so I was only slightly disappointed - afterall I knew they weren't from a confirmed source - but my broody wanted to hatch something and I wanted a dark layer. I am however now in love with my little Maran girl - she is so sweet and chirps the prettiest sound. My Maran boy is just as sweet, he didn't even attempt to mate anyone or crow until almost 18 weeks old.

Here are her 1st three eggs, the 1st one I laid next to a quarter to show the size. Her latest one is about 1/4" taller than the one yesterday.

My pullet Bunny - she doesn't pose well.

Caught them both trying to exit the run.

My cockerel Rusty.

Simply Stunning!
My mother really wants some of these, she told me to find her some, and I always listen to my mom:)
Do any of you know of someone in Maine who breeds these beauties? If so please PM me :)

The only thing I can see that I would change would be opening up the tail feathers on the female. We really have no idea of what a proposed SOP will have included.

Has anyone raising the blue coppers noticed that when working on egg color, from generation to generation, they seem to do well and are consistent with deepening in color? I'm going to be going into my 3rd generation on the blue coppers and am getting excited to see what kind of progress will be made on the quality of the birds and the egg color! If we have a few more of these 50 degree days, the incubator will definitely be getting filled up!
