Quick question for Marans folks--

What color egg will a Marans X white Leghorn lay?

Thanks for helping to satisfy my curiosity. I don't have any way to tell which hen lays which eggs, so I count on egg color to let me know when specific breeds of hens start laying.

I have 8 Marans in the Brooder and I rarely hear a peep out of them.

Mine are not particularly loud until you go to pick them up if they are not used to it. I have a bunch in outdoor grow out pens. I don't have time to handle all my birds and I notice a big difference between the Marans (I have Black and Blue Copper) and the other breeds. The Marans will scream bloody murder when they are caught and flap like crazy. They do settle down with a little handling, but they sure are not a naturally tame breed.

Thanks! I have a big lemon blue cuckoo Marans rooster as well as several other breeds, but when I hatched eggs this spring (all from white Leghorns) all the babies had feathered legs! So I guess I know who's been getting busy...
