Blue Copper and Splash Copper Marans Discussion

Runawaylobster, I'm anxious to hear how the rooster move is going. I had 3 roosters and 2 pullets last time I hatched. I moved the pullets into other pens with roosters already established there, thinking I could leave the 3 roosters in the same pen without hens. Two of the roosters beat up on the other one, so I took the beat up one out and put him in yet another coop with one of the original pullets. Now everyone is happy. The remaining 2 roosters get along well. Now I have another group of hatchlings with 2 more roosters. I wonder if I can put them in the now established rooster pen. I'm worried. How has it worked for you?

Well spike is still in his lonely pen. I spent time stepping up to him when he runs up to the wire towards me and staring him down. Not sure if this will help but i put gloves and long sleeves and went in the doorway and now he won't come near me. It's a non walk in pen so i really don't feel like entering with him cornered in the back and me stooping over. I think i need to tickle him out like i do with lobsters LOL.. I have 12 roos in one half of the split pen, and 16 pullets + 4 roos in the other half. Only because I got tired catching them and never finished moving all the roos out. At first the boys were having a spat but after about a half hour they settled down and are doing alot better now they have their own pen. At first i thought if wasn't going to work because the big bully chased one guy in the corner and really scared him but after that they settled down. I have elected not to add Spike to this pen, i think it will cause all kinds of trouble so I am going to try barter him with someone who would be kind enough to swap me a dozen hatching eggs from him. I will only move him in there if i can get him to be a bit less aggressive. I had thought of popping my two very nice pullets in with him and standing by with the hose... It's frustrating.

Hello All, Would anyone be willing to critique my Blue Copper Marans Rooster, he is about 8 months old. If so, what angles would be best to post?

Thank you.

Hi Guys! Last sunday I bought 60 maran chicks (26 blue copper, 22 black copper, and 12 splash). The line the parent birds came from was Ernie Hair's (thats what I was told). I am super eggcited about raising these birds and cannot wait until the day I get the nice dark brown eggs!

If possible, post a side profile of him standing relaxed, a shot from the front, a shot from the top, a shot from the rear, and perhaps a headshot.
That should give everyone a good look at him.

Looking forward to seeing your photos !!
