Blue Copper and Splash Copper Marans Discussion

Not a marans expert, but pullets can lay some strange looking things until they get going. Give it some time to see what happens when she is more consistent.

Thanks for the response. Yea, that's kind of what I figured. I really hope her eggs darken up. I also have a Welsummer and a Black Tail Buff, so I'm hoping for some nice dark eggs from all of them soon. With my two Blue/Wheaten Ameraucanas and Blue laced Wyondotte, I should have a nice array of eggs.

Wow! I usually get about 2 eggs a day, & only two (now 3) of my 6 hens are laying. The others should be starting real soon now (I hope :/).

Glad to hear that I'm not alone. I'm only get 1-2 a day too, out of 55 chickens. It's totally driving my husband crazy.

This is what I found in the nest box today! Now that's more like it

. I'm guessing that this was my Blue Copper, since she laid the funky one yesterday. Wow, what a difference! It's small, but sooo pretty. I also had one of the light blue eggs in a box.


The one all the way to the right is the one she laid yesterday, next to the dark one from today. Tell me what you think

Going to bed but so far I have 5 Splash and 1 pipping and 6 Black Coppers with 2 pipping. Hopefully they pop out by tomorrow as I promised I will try not to help chicks out anymore.... yeah right... but I am so happy with what I have so far!!! can't do smilleys but just imagine that little yellow ball running back and forth. Oh I can't wait to have Marans again.

6 Splash and 8 Black Copper in the brooder today. Insert Smiley face here. I have 8 additional Black Coppers in the brooder from The Fancy Chick so I"m back! Feeling very happy today. I love Marans and have so missed them these last few months and now looking forward to next spring.
