Blue Copper and Splash Copper Marans Discussion

Looks like a Splash to me.
Thanks, I wasn't sure if the splash usually has more color as a chick. Is this chick a splash also or would she be considered a blue?

This one is a blue. Splash typically look almost white with a just a hint of gray around the head area.

I have had blue copper Marans chicks that are "blue-r" than this one. I thought it was a splash, but the down was a light ashen color and other splashes I've had were more of a white down. Now at a week old this super dark blue feathering is coming in. It has been suggested this might be a blue wheaten down/feathering? Calling all experts...cuz I'm a newbie.
Jury is still out, anyone else with knowledge of this? Blue chicks should NOT come from whiter down.

We have a Marans hen that looked like this one...not quite as dark on the wings. I'll attach pics. As an adult she is a beautiful light cornflower blue with dark splashes. I don't know if she is blue with leakage or splash, but I love her color and have tried for two seasons to duplicate her.

Silver Belle as a chick

Her adult body color.

Belle on the right with her guy, a regular splash. Notice the difference in base color. Also, has darker neck like a blue.

One more so that you can see her splashes...or leakage?

We hatched eggs with her and our splash rooster and so far have all splashes except 2 roosters that had her chick down coloring. Hope this helps. I'd like a rooster with her coloring if you end up with one that you don't want to keep. : ) Oh and she lays a gorgeous terra cotta colored egg....consistently for 2 years.

Also, when she hatched and was still wet, her down was silver, that's why we named her Silver Belle. I think that wheatons are more yellowish? Anyone?

Could I possibly get some input on this 9 week pullet. I think she's nice, but I wanted experts opinion. I want to know what I need to improve on. She actually came from a pretty dark egg herself. Not sure if her eye color is too dark as well. I would greatly appreciate it. It was hard to get pics of her with her head up. Too busy foraging. You may need back side shots too, I'll work on that

Looks like her eye color is going to be good! The fact that it is not dark right now is a good thing. :)

Can we see the parents? This will tell us a lot. :) I have hatched many Splash babies out that feather in this color of blue, they stayed a light light blue with lots of darker blue leakage, never acquired any edging, and never showed any copper. Funny, now that I think about it, I think they all might have been females.
